Every great story talks about a Hero overcoming a villain. The Hero is only measured by the greatness of the Villain. If the Villain is extremely evil and the Hero overcomes, we will instantly identify the Hero as extremely good.

The Villain doesn’t have to be a person. It could be a circumstance, environment, or sickness. Poverty, cancer, sickness and abuse are all things that individuals have overcome.

We only understand things that have an exact opposite. Positive/Negative, North/South, Up/Down, Success/Failure, Good/Evil.

Think about your villain. Who is your nemesis that you compete with on a regular basis? Do you have one? You can measure yourself by the struggles, obstacles, and the nemesis that you have overcome.
